Blur part of an image

Soften just the region you choose — a face, an address, a screen — with a live in-marquee preview of the blur strength. Auto face detection can blur every face in one click, entirely on your device.

For information that must be unrecoverable, use Redact instead: blur obscures, redaction destroys.

Soften just what you choose

Blur a face, an address or a screen with a live in-marquee preview of the strength. Auto face detection can blur every face in one click, entirely on your device. Blur is great for a soft, natural obscuring; for anything that must be unrecoverable, Redact is the safe choice.

When to blur and when not to

Blur is perfect for a soft, natural obscuring — a background face at a party, a distant number plate, an out-of-focus screen. It reads as intentional and gentle rather than a harsh black bar. Just remember the security caveat: for anything that would cause real harm if recovered, reach for Redact instead, which cannot be undone.

How it works

  1. Drop an image and open Blur.
  2. Drag over the region and tune the strength.
  3. Apply and download.

Like every pixelpix tool, this runs 100% in your browser: your file is never uploaded to a server, never leaves your device, and works even offline once the page has loaded.

Frequently asked questions

Is blurring safe for sensitive information?
Blur obscures but is not guaranteed unrecoverable. For names, numbers or anything truly private, use Redact, which destroys the underlying pixels.
Can I blur all the faces automatically?
Yes, the built-in detector blurs every face it finds in a single undoable edit.
Can I control the blur strength?
Yes — a slider sets the radius, previewed live inside the selection.
